Start using and living Latin without fear
and make your way to the Fluent Latinists Olympus,
one text at a time.
Start using and living Latin without fear and make your way to the Fluent Latinists Olympus, one text at a time.
Let’s face it. Going from 0% to 80% in Latin can be hard, but climbing up that cliff from 80% to 100%… is just incomparably harder!
BUT… WHY?
So what happens?
You start consuming hours of contents, hoping you’ll somehow absorb the language and become as fluent as the content creators you admire (which, unsurprisingly, doesn’t happen).
You read lots of texts, but because you lack a system to retain the new words, idioms and structures, they flow away.
And here’s when ‘the cycle of despair’ begins…
You stop seeing the results you had in the beginner and lower-intermediate stages; your motivation drops…
Perhaps you start suffering from the ‘false beginner syndrome’ (I’ve been learning Latin for years but I still feel as if I were a beginner… sounds familiar?)…
Or you get stuck in the intermediate plateau, unable to move forward…
And in the worst case scenario, you quit, accepting that you simply can’t go any further. That you don’t have what it takes to enter the fluent Latinists Olympus.
If you think about it, though…
If you haven’t ever trained yourself to read, write, speak and listen to Latin in an active way... it’s quite natural that, when you try to express yourself in Latin, or tackle an advanced text, you can’t find the words you need or figure out their meaning.
We can’t hope to become fluent until we start to actually use the language!
You see? Ultimately, the difference between someone who can understand Latin and someone who really lives Latin is a simple shift: from passive learning to an active acquisition, where you use the language instead of just reading or listening.
If someone asked me to get on a stage tomorrow and play a violin sonata, I’d feel uncomfortable too…
…because I can’t play the violin!
Even if I’d spent years studying how to play the violin in theory, watched tutorials on YouTube or listened to hours of classical music, without practicing, I still wouldn’t be able to do it!
Now, let me show you…
Even if you know all the grammar, you don't read Latin texts... you decipher them. You need to analyze almost every sentence, and often translate it in your head, in order to understand. You're lost without a dictionary! Even thinking about speaking Latin seems completely off-limits. Time required to get through a 10-line text: usually more than one hour.
You understand simple Latin input almost on the fly. You can deal with some "real texts", but you feel there's a whole other level of fluency for you to unlock. When you engage in conversations, you're hindered by the fear of mistakes, and although you know many words, it takes a long time to find them in your memory. Time required to get through a 10-line text: still too much!
Congratulations! You're a rara avis, one of the few people who're able to pick any Latin text and read at first sight. You enjoy "real" conversations, and you're so confident and relaxed that you can focus on your thoughts, without any fear of making grammar mistakes. You can access any Latin work, no matter how niche it is, because you don't need translations! Time required to get through a 10-line text: pretty much the time it takes to read it.
You see, who lives Latin (not just deciphering or understanding it) is someone who really owns the language.
When you reach that stage, plenty of cool possibilities become accessible:
You’re able to read any work from any author you’re interested in without necessarily depending on translations (that are always detracting something from the original, even when they’re good). You might even be the first to read a text that hasn’t been translated yet!
You’re able to confidently teach in Latin, compose your own poems, write novellas, start your own Latin podcast or YouTube channel, attend conventicula and feel completely at ease with other rarae aves like you…
Reaching this level of coolness would be priceless, wouldn’t it?
Now I ask you:
if you had THE opportunity to reach the top, would you do it?
Yes, BUT…
OK, I see what you’re thinking:
“It’s too late”… “I don’t have enough time”… “I’m a desperate case”… “I don’t know where to start”… “I learnt Latin through grammar and translation”…
Just forget all of your ‘but’s for a moment, and read here:
What sets you apart from the other Latin learners is that you’re aware that there must be more out there, and you have asked yourself why, despite all those years spent studying Latin and listening to experienced speakers, you still feel as if you were a beginner.
At least, now you know what’s the shift you need to make to transition to the next stage of the scale: from passive to active, and possibly proactive learning.
Now you know this truth, however… what can you do?
How can we solve the problem?
First, take a deep breath, because yes, there’s hope for you, too…
Now, let me tell you a story… my story.
Reading Renaissance manuscripts while researching for my Master’s thesis, 2017
Although I’m definitely not a perfect Latin speaker, I can say with confidence that I am a fluent Latin speaker, reader and writer.
I got to a point where I can pick any Latin text and understand most of what I’m reading at first sight.
I can talk about anything on the spot using complex Latin sentences, and, while I do make mistakes sometimes, I can always spot and correct them on a second thought.
Now, if you’re thinking that I must be born with some special gift for Latin, or that getting to this point of fluency was a natural result of the 17+ years I’ve spent studying and teaching Latin, or even that I got there without my conscious effort and research, on a journey made of trial and error, challenges, struggles, setbacks and endless questioning…
Well, I have to tell you that none of that is true.
I was awarded with the first prize in dozens of certamina during high school; I was admitted to the most selective Italian university, Scuola Normale of Pisa, where I got a master’s degree in Classics and Classical Philology…
I though this would make me a natural Latin speaker, and a fluent reader, but it didn’t. I’d been taught all the theory, but nothing about the real thing.
So if that didn’t make me fluent, what did?
Taking Latin for what it really was, a language, and starting to use it.
I’d attend spoken Latin gatherings and circles, engage in actual conversations, experiment on myself and, most of all, implement a daily routine made of practical, active exercises, and keep perfecting it over the years.
So I got where I am now because I’ve been struggling daily on my own route to Latin perfection for almost two decades, and I still do.
But there’s more to it…
During these years, I got to meet and make friends with some of the most respected Latin speakers in the world (I interviewed some of them in my podcast Rara avis).
And you know what I discovered?
That none of them is a natural, either, and they all started from zero. That all those rarae aves, all those successful, respected Latinists, have one thing in common…
They found the right resources, mastered those few exercises that make all the difference, and worked out a daily routine of active Latin practice they’ve been working on consistently for years.
Visiting Roman remains while chatting with the most amazing rarae aves in Rome, 2012
So, this has been my own journey.
Along the way, I also learnt some ways to amplify the effort I put in, and following all these considerations I decided it was time to make my own experience and the ‘secrets’ of the rarae aves available for other Latin enthusiasts, too.
I wanted to create a course that could give you a direction and equip you with all those practical tools and exercises that, if done consistently over time, have the potential to make you reach the very top of the Latin coolness scale.
I took my personal recipe for success, tested on myself and my students, and I organized it into actionable steps, backed with science and improved by a constant listening to your feedback.
So you could avoid my own mistakes and save a lot of time, hassle and money, potentially getting to my same level of fluency and even far beyond, on a fast track to the fluent Latinists Olympus.
The lessons, despite being pre-recorded, had to lay their bases on interactivity…
Not necessarily with other people, but even in a solitary, daily study.
Each and every minute had to be an opportunity to bring out the active learner that’s already inside of you and boost, with small but consistent steps, your own confidence and fluency, to the point of making listening, reading, writing and speaking Latin as natural as possible…
The ultimate goal: ‘Living Latin’.
You know that moment where you exclaim: “Wait… was I really thinking in Latin?”
I assure you it’s a wonderful feeling… and I can’t wait for you to experience it over and over again.
By the way, you need an extraordinary method to get extraordinary results.
And that’s how I created…
The 10-week course, 100% in spoken Latin, that leverages texts to give you the superpower of living Latin without fear and making your own way to the Fluent Latinists Olympus.
(Your) Perfect Latin CURRICULUM is a 10-week, 10-module course. Each module includes video lessons, audio trainings, worksheets and exercises to put everything into practice. All the materials in the course are entirely in Latin and they’re entirely on-demand (all the video lessons are pre-recorded) and they’ll be available at any time.
Once you sign up, Week 0 will be immediately available for you, then each one of the 10 modules will be released weekly, starting January 6, 2025: you’ll unlock one new module every Monday inside the course platform, and once the modules are released, they’ll be yours forever and available for (re)watching at any time.
So… are you ready to start?
Week 1:
Mindset and fuel
In order to reach those fluency goals you have and become a rara avis you need to start from your own values and remove all the blocks, fears and distractions that put you at a risk of getting stuck or demotivated. That’s why Week 1 is all about the right forma mentis.
At the end of the week, the fear to speak Latin and make mistakes will be a past memory, and you’ll be ready to set on your journey with confidence and joy. Plus, you’ll have written your first essay in Latin!
Week 2:
Solid foundations
(Vocabulary)
You’ll learn how to use any text you read as a goldmine of vocabulary and idioms, and how to commit them into your long term memory so they’re acquired forever.
Thanks to these exercises, words and locutiones (including neologisms) will finally stick to your mind without flowing away, and they’ll be ready to use whenever you need them.
Week 3:
Your pathway
to fluency
You’ll learn and test my O.C.E.L.L.I. method to read any Latin text with ease and confidence. A new set of tools and exercises will bring your active skills to the next level and allow you to leverage any text (written or spoken) to become a fluent reader, speaker and writer.
You’ll forget about that feeling of being completely lost in front of advanced Latin texts and rely on a step by step, repeatable method.
Week 4:
Style
matters
You’ll discover what it really means (and what it would mean for a Roman) to be stylish, dig into the infinite layers of sense of a Latin text and go beyond its literal meaning, straight to the essence. You’ll also learn how to streamline your composition and polish your writing (both prose and poetry!) thanks to the superpower of imitation.
At the end of this week, you’ll be able to analyse any Latin text from a stylistic standpoint thanks to the birthday cake approach.
Weeks 5-9:
Bringing it all
together
Now you’re ready to put all the steps together! With these 5 weeks of intensive training, you’ll master the (Y)PLC method, test yourself and make it yours forever.
During each one of the 5 weeks we’ll work vertically on a different text until you really own it (which is the secret weapon of the most fluent Latin speakers!). At the end of the training, you’ll be able to autonomously apply your new study routine to any text or conversation.
Week 10:
The ultimate fix
Here’s the ultimate fix, where we’ll focus on the trickiest verbal forms and all those “essential details” that allow you to make the leap from intermediate to advanced.
Subjunctive, supine, passive future, conditional sentences, dispositio verborum and those small words that look all the same… During this week you’ll fill the grammar, syntax and vocabulary gaps you were left with from your previous learning and learn how to drill them until they become automatic reflexes.
At the end of the week you’ll be able to use any verb form, pronounce any word correctly and know some useful resources to never doubt again.

I wanted to make (Y)PLC more accessible thanks to a payment plan.
* This isn’t a subscription you can cancel at any time. Simply, you get the course today (one new module every week) and you commit to paying it in installments over the next 6 months.
Do you want even more? Do you want to be followed 1-on-1, with a close, personalized support?
For this edition, I decided to offer 10 places for (Y)PLC Plus. I can only accept 10 Plus students for 2025, so it’s a unique opportunity and I don’t know whether and when it’ll repeat again.
(Y)PLC is a complete program, which gives you all you need to start using and living Latin and make your way to the Fluent Latinists Olympus.
If you want to “boost” the process and have a really special experience, (Y)PLC Plus is the “one-to-one” version of (Y)PLC, where you can work on your Latin in close contact with me and a small group of Plus students.
What’s the PLUS?
Besides all the standard features and the bonuses I described before, you’ll count on three months of personalized feedback and support.
You see, despite being a self-study course, (Y)PLC is already designed to make you evaluate your own progress, control your exercises and minimize the risk you give up. In fact, it teaches you a repeatable method you’ll customize and apply at any time and autonomously.
However, we all know that, to be 100% sure not to quit, a bit more of accountability doesn’t hurt.
So: if you want, you can have my “vertical” experience and guidance at your service thanks to (Y)PLC Plus.
So it’s not about “extra information”, which you’ll have in any case…
It’s about maximizing the results.
The whole (Y)PLC journey is designed to make you an active Latinist, and you'll work on your speaking skills both with the other students (during the Weekly Meetings) and alone, thanks to the daily exercises.
(Y)PLC Plus students get some additional practice: besides the Saturday Meetings, there's an opportunity to join 10 conversation sessions with the other Plus students and me. Super relaxed and super effective!
The 10 Plus meetings are on Fridays, 2pm CET (Central European Time), with recordings available shortly afterwards.
Every day of your (Y)PLC journey includes some homework: most of the days it'll be quick exercises to verify you understood the lesson, while some others (especially during weeks 5 to 9) you'll put it all together with some Latin composition exercises.
The “regular” version of (Y)PLC equips you with the best tools to review your own work or ask the community for feedback.
But if you need someone to take you by your hand, (Y)PLC Plus is the solution. I'll review 10 of your composition works and send my feedback in text and voice messages.
What's a teacher? Someone who's already done the work and is always there to support, guide, encourage and show you the best way to solve a problem.
For the duration of the course, you'll have my personal support via email or Telegram at any time.
Is that essential to succeed? No.
Is it an accelerator and a booster? Absolutely YES.
The investment to join (Y)PLC Plus is
997€
Only for the Plus students,
I set aside another super bonus

For any doubt, contact me
You’re a graduate of my beginner course Gustatio linguae Latinae.
You’re currently at an intermediate level (or higher).
You’ve read through Familia Romana and you feel ready to move forward.
You’re comfortable with all the basic grammar and high-frequency vocabulary of Latin.
You can comfortably understand all the videos and podcasts from Satura Lanx, including the one at the top of this page.
You’re ready to create a daily routine of Latin practice during the 10 weeks of this course, and actively commit to working on your skills.
You identify as an independent learner who doesn’t need a lot of hand holding to get things done.
You’re currently at an intermediate / advanced level and you wish to take your skills to the next level.
You’re already familiar with some Latin writings, you can read intermediate texts quite comfortably and you don’t feel completely lost when attempting more advanced ones.
You’ve gone through Familia Romana more than once and you’ve already taken some further steps (like reading Roma Aeterna, other books from the same publisher, original or simplified Latin texts…).
You attended Latin courses and/or conventicula in the past.
Once you sign up, you’ll find the Welcome Week waiting for you. Then you’ll unlock one new module (with video lessons, worksheets and resources) every Monday, starting January 6.
If for whatever reason you’re unable to start on that day or you need more time to go through the modules, no stress: once all the modules are released, you have unlimited access to all of the course materials.
Yes. For the standard version, you can start the course whenever you want and there is no fixed schedule (just a recommended one), so you can take all the time to go through the lessons: all the materials will be yours forever!
However, today you can get all of what you see in this page, with 100€ discount on the full price of (Y)PLC and 567€ worth of bonuses; so if you know you want to take this course, there is no better moment to enroll than now.
Yes, if you opt for the single payment (297€ or 997€) you can pay through bank transfer or PayPal. You find all the data and some instruction on this page.
To make (Y)PLC more accessible, I created an installment plan of 6 payments of 54€ each. You enroll today for 54€, and every 30 days you’ll be automatically charged 54€ for the next 5 months.
However, (Y)PLC is not a subscription. For this reason, once you buy the course and the 14 days when you can opt out from the contract have passed, you can’t cancel it.
As for any product you’d buy with a payment plan, you get the course today (one new module every week) and you pay for it in installments over the next 6 months.
Can you comfortably understand (most of) what I’m saying in the video at the top of this page? Do you think you know all the basic Latin grammar? Have you already read the whole book Familia Romana (LLPSI)? If you answered YES to at least 2 of these 3 questions, then you’ll be able to follow this course.
And if you fear that (Y)PLC is going to be too easy for you… believe me, it’s not. Because this course lets you become your own teacher, you’ll be the one to decide how much you want to push your limits.
Disclaimer: If you decide to enroll even if you don’t satisfy the minimum requirements yet, I can’t assure you that you’ll get any of the expected results.
There is no superior limit as to those who can benefit from (Y)PLC. If the most renowned Classics Professor (and even Cicero himself) were to take this course, they wouldn’t be losing their time. Not because I know more than them, but because the method I teach in the course is designed to empower your self-improvement and amplify your effort. (If you think about it, the best psychologists are always in therapy and top-level athletes are still trained by a coach.)
This course gives you all the tools and information you need to get to 100% as an independent learner. Just how close to it you get (and when) depends on a number of factors such as your time, motivation and language experience. If getting to a perfect mastery of the Latin language today is virtually impossible, it’s possible to reach very high levels of fluency and understanding of the language. Thanks to this intensive course, you’ll be able to keep learning Latin efficiently and enjoyably over a long period of time.
All the course content (video lessons, exercises and support materials) is in Latin.
(Y)PLC‘s structured as a 10 week intensive course. The core video trainings will take 25 hours to watch. You can binge watch them all at once, or (much better) pace yourself and tackle one module per week. Besides the video lessons, expect to work 30 minutes to 1.5 hours per day on your homework during the 10 weeks.
However… I know you may not have this much time!
That’s why each lesson comes with handy transcripts and MP3 files you can listen to during your daily activities, and that’s why once you enroll, you have lifetime access to the course. The 10 weeks schedule’s a suggestion, and you can decide to go at your own pace.
The first module will be released on January 6, so it won’t be possible to enroll in (Y)PLC after the 31st of December.
You’ll have lifetime* access to the course (and its future updates), meaning the video lessons, worksheets, transcripts and audio files and the two bonus Workshops.
You’ll have lifetime* access to the students group on Telegram.
You’ll have access to the Saturday meetings for one year.
* As long as the course continues to exist and be offered.
Remember when I asked whether, if you had the opportunity to reach the top, you’d decide to do it?
That wasn’t a rhetoric question: most people will reply with a ‘No’, and that’s perfectly OK.
Not everyone’s meant to become a rara avis, and if starting to use Latin’s not something you desire, you can keep living happily without that skill.
If you’re open to this opportunity, though, I assure you that you won’t regret taking this first step, and that there’s no better moment than now!
I know it’s frightening, but I want you to know I’m here, stretching out my hand, waiting for you to jump and see how beautiful it is ‘on the other side’.
