Would you like to set on a journey to Latin proficiency… tasting literature from the very first step?

Salve! I’m Irene, and I’m a Latin teacher.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT METHOD IS THE KEY

I was lucky enough to learn Latin with Familia Romana, the most incredible book in the world.

For me and Latin, it was love at first sight.

During my high school years, my teacher encouraged me to take part in many translation competitions (certamina), and I won all of them, ending up being awarded the best Latin student in Italy for that year.

Sure, translating was fun, winning prizes was flattering… but I wanted more.

So, I started spending my Friday evenings at the Latin speaking circle of Milan, my summers traveling the world to attend conventicula, and my free time reading Seneca (♥).

Then the university (Classics, of course), some years teaching around the world, and… fast forward to ten years later… here I am, teaching Latin online, by my rules, and helping other people unlock the incredible beauty of Latin.

But…

LEARNING LATIN DOESN'T HAVE TO BE HARD

I know that I was lucky, and I know that learning Latin is more often a nightmare than a love story

Learning Latin can be frustrating, boring, useless, discouraging, endless…  if it’s done with the wrong method.

The method I propose inverts the “traditional” way of teaching Latin: I don’t believe in the mechanical memorization of grammar tables, in deciphering Latin sentences as they were unsolvable puzzles, hands always on a dictionary.

If you want to really live and enjoy Latin, read texts (not just translate them) and have a real dialogue with the ancient authors, then you have to start from the texts themselves.

I’ve made my personal mission as a teacher to show as many people as possible that learning Latin can be easy, enjoyable, fun, and you will get to a point where you’re able to open any Latin work and simply read it, as if it were in English.

That’s why I created Gustatio linguae Latinae, a video course for beginners that gives you the key to access Latin literature at your own pace, loving the process and having the opportunity to read texts from the very beginning, tasting and savoring them (that’s what gustatio means).

You won’t be alone during this journey: you will always count on my support and share your progress with the other students in the course.

Learning Latin is like forging your own key to access a secret library where an invaluable treasure of knowledge, science, wisdom and art from all ages and countries is concealed.

Students have already taken this course, and here is what they say:
0

You have made all the difference in my learning proccess, so I must say “gratias tibi ago”! You are the only one who really knows how to teach beginners like me. So, again, congratulations for the right choice in your life, which is being a teacher.

Your lessons have been a tremendous help to me. I am understanding the Latin better than ever before, and you have revolutionized my teaching. Thank you. Finally my students are showing the sorts of success I have been struggling to achieve.

Wonderful course! I can’t stop watching since I purchased your course last week. I’m just a beginner. I’ve tried many times in the past but nothing would work for me. Your materials do. Many thanks, I couldn’t be happier. Next email hopefully in latin.

So I’m extremely happy and very proud to present you…

WHAT DO MY STUDENTS SAY?

I followed “Familia Romana” during a whole year in a course. Then I registered in “Gustatio linguae Latinae” (I'm on chapter XXXI, almost finishing). Irene's chapter readings and comments plus all the supplmentary materials is the best method you can find to learn Latin.

This course helped me to navigate the language basics without becoming frustrated. I now feel confident about moving on with a more advanced understanding of the Latin language. I am 200% satisfied with her dedication and support.

Irene, your videocourse is brilliant. I love the explanations of the readings, and the grammar is much clearer than in the book. I am enjoying Latin very much, I’m on Chapter XXVII and my reading has improved greatly!

I am currently at chapter 9, but it is great to be a part of a group with people who has the same interest. I thank you for your effort to help us all.

I started the first lessons and must say you did a great job! Compared with usual methods spoken Latin and teaching in Latin is a completely different and exciting approach.

Gratias tibi ago, summas atque ingentes!! Numquam habui (ne quidem novi) tam diligentissima profestrix, ut maerens essem ad finem cursi perveniendum... 😢

Until Tuesday, Jan. 19th (23:59 CET), you can have the course and all the support for 297€ for the last time, before the price rises to 597€...

MY PROMISE FOR YOU

Investing in yourself is never an easy choice… I know! That’s why I give you the opportunity to try out the program for 15 days: if you’re not satisfied with this course, you can ask for a 100% refund and have your money back, no questions asked.

Why do I take this risk, knowing that some people could take advantage of it?

First, I know that my course is well worth the money it costs. I condensed into Gustatio linguae Latinae all of my passion for Latin and my pedagogical expertise, creating something you can’t honestly find anywhere else. The feedback I get from my students and their own success confirm it!

Second, I trust my audience, and I trust you. I believe that we attract people who share our own values…

DO YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?

No, you’ll be able to enroll only until Tuesday, January 19th. After that, you won’t be able to enroll until the next launch (probably next spring), when the price of the course will rise to 597€.

You’ll receive an email with your username and a password to enter the platform, and you’ll be able to access and start the course immediately. With the welcome email, you’ll also receive the links to join the support group on Facebook and the Telegram group, where you can interact with me and with the other students in the program.

Yes, you can pay through bank transfer. In this case, please email me at saturalanx@saturalanx.eu for further information.

Unless you’re already at a really advanced level (you can read and understand authentic texts and you know all the grammar), you can still learn a lot from this course, especially if you studied as an autodidact and/or using another method, or if you want to start speaking Latin.

Yes, if you’re willing to explore new pedagogical approaches, improve your spoken Latin or get used to teach with Familia Romana. Many of my students are actually Latin teachers!

Yes, absolutely, and even if you are a complete beginner! Both Familia Romana and my material are designed in a progressive, gradual way, so that you can understand what you’re reading from day one. In the video lessons, I adapt my Latin to your level at every stage of the course: 90% of the words I use will be already known to you, and the other 10% is what stimulates your learning progress. Any new word I introduce will be easily understandable thanks to pictures, gestures or context.

Gustatio linguae Latinae is a video course, and you’ll have access to the material at any time. So, it’s up to you to find the pace that suits you best! I personally recommend not going through more than one chapter/step a week, so it takes a minimum of  9 months to go through the whole course. Many students have completed the course in one year, for some others it takes more…

Although I show the book pages while I read through it in the video lessons, I recommend to buy the paper version, so you can take notes, re-read at any time and fill in the pensa (exercices) by hand. The book (Hans Ørberg, Lingua Latina per se illustrata. Pars I, Familia Romana) can be purchased online for around 22€, and I’ll tell you where you can find it.

You’ll have unlimited access to the course as long as I continue to offer it (that is, virtually forever)!

No, TAV taxes are included in the price.

Ab Irene ipsa didici recitare clara voce, plano sermone, intervallis debitis intermissis, et iterum iterumque consistere et eadem vocabula dicere ut omnia clara meis discipulis sint.

It's not only possible to teach Latin in Latin from zero, as Irene says, but it's also hundreds times more enjoyable and effective. Don't hesitate, you won't regret it!

...WANT TO READ MORE OF MY STUDENTS STORIES?

IS THIS COURSE FOR YOU?
Chances are that...

You're slowly making your way through the book on your own, and you feel that you've hit a wall. You'd like to figure out why you get stuck, and then get unstuck and move forward. You want to break that cycle of getting started - giving up - getting started again, once and for all.

You haven't even started to learn Latin, but you're already feeling overwhelmed with how much you will have to read before you become a fluent Latin reader.

You've been learning Latin for years now. You can deal quite well with all the grammar, syntax and vocabulary, but you still can't read Latin texts with ease. You feel as if you were still a beginner... and that's frustrating!

What motivated you in the first place was the desire to read texts (maybe even sightread them...). And yet, even the most simple ones are too difficult for you. Even when you read a simple text in Latin, you're stuck with deciphering every single word, re-ordering them... you never know how to connect words to each others, and it's only after several iterations that you start to get the sentence's idea.

You find it hard to find texts that are both comprehensible for your reading level and compelling enough to keep you reading.

You memorize entire lists of vocabulary, but you can't retain them: you always need to look up in a dictionary. And even when you can recall all the possible meanings of the word you need to figure out, how the hell do you know which one is the right one in that particular sentence you're reading? Not to talk about all those word endings, verb tenses, conjugations and declensions...

You find it hard to find texts that are both comprehensible for your reading level and compelling enough to keep you reading.

You think that finding other people to practice your spoken and written Latin could keep your motivation high and take your Latin skills to the next level... but you don't know how to find them!

You're longing to become fluent, both in reading and speaking. You're tired of having to translate in your head, and you want to train your mind to really think in Latin.

...or maybe you are a teacher, you feel that there must be a better way to teach Latin, and you're willing to do whatever it takes to make yourself a better teacher.

IS THIS COURSE FOR YOU?
Chances are that...

After so much time, I still feel as if I were a beginner…

I wan’t to think in Latin, not translate in my head…

Why cant’ I retain all the vocabulary and memorize declensions?

How do I get unstuck and move forward?

If you recognized yourself in one or more of these situations...
then this course is what you need.

And now, you have two choices:
either you keep doing what you're doing, getting the same results...
or you decide to do something new,
and change your relationship with Latin, forever.

Are you ready to join them in
Gustatio linguae Latinae?
